In short

Sleepchess has no accounts. We do not collect your name or anything else that identifies you. The only exception is an email address you choose to leave in the feedback form.

What stays in your browser

To remember your choices, the site keeps some data in your browser's local storage: your settings (language, game, theme, speed, timer, sound and so on), your favorite games, how far you got in each game, which games you have already seen, and the date of your last visit. This data is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

Your browser also keeps copies of the pages and games you have opened, so they can play offline.

Anonymous statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Umami to understand how the site is used: the number of visits, the country, the type of device, and how often features are used, such as starting playback, changing the speed or the timer, or watching a game to the end. Neither tool uses cookies, tracks you across websites or can tell who you are.

To see whether the site really helps people fall asleep, we also record how many minutes pass between starting playback and the last tap on the screen, and how many days have passed since your previous visit (worked out from the date kept in your browser; only a rough range such as "2–7 days" is sent). The statistics never include your favorites or which games you watched.

Feedback

You can send feedback through the form under Menu → Feedback. We store your message, your email address if you give one, the language and game of the page, the time, and a scrambled code made from your IP address. The code is used only to limit spam and cannot be turned back into your IP address. Feedback is stored with Cloudflare and also forwarded to our own mailbox.

We use your email address only to reply to you, and keep feedback only as long as it helps us improve the site.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, technical data such as your IP address passes through Cloudflare's servers and is handled under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date on this page.
