Sleepchess quietly replays a chess game while you drift off, from nineteenth-century classics to strong modern games: one move at a time, with no commentary, and the result only appears after the last move.
How to use it
- Tap ▶ in the middle of the board to start.
- Use the buttons below the board to set the speed (2–10 seconds per move), the sleep timer and the sound.
- After 8 seconds the screen dims to a quiet view; touch it to bring the controls back.
- In the last minute before the sleep timer ends, the picture and sound slowly fade, then playback stops.
Questions
- Do I need to know the rules?
- No. Many people simply like watching the pieces move. There is no analysis on the page and nothing you need to follow.
- Do I need an account? Where are my favorites kept?
- No account is needed. Favorites, progress and settings stay in your own browser; we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Will the screen stay on?
- While a game is playing, the page tries to keep the screen on. When the sleep timer ends it fades out and stops, and your phone turns the screen off as usual.
- Can this treat insomnia?
- No. Sleepchess is a way to relax, not a medical product. If you sleep badly for a long time, please talk to a doctor.
